5G Antenna Installations

The Scope

With extensive experience installing Wi-Fi and mobile phone transmitters at Premier League football stadiums, Vertical Access was appointed to remove existing 3G and 4G transmitters and install new 5G units across several stadiums.

The Challenge

As the previous transmitter units were placed in difficult access locations, the removal and installation of the new units was challenging. Additionally, over 2000m of cable was to be fixed. Wi-Fi and mobile phone transmitters needed regularly updating to keep up with the ever-changing technology and increased levels of use. This meant we had to act fast and accurately to ensure the smooth operation of the stadium's communication systems.

Our Response

Vertical Access worked closely with clients on the stadium projects to develop roof rescue plans and safe systems of work for working at height. Our existing experience and knowledge of stadium installations allowed us to identify and resolve potential installation problems before they occurred.

For roof cable penetrations, we provided waterproofing solutions based on knowledge gained from previous installations, helping to ensure reliable, problem-free performance.

Our site teams also worked closely with other contractors on stadium projects to develop solutions to practical problems as they arose. Where required, Vertical Access adapted to other contractors, work sites and stadium operations by changing shift patterns and working flexibly around existing activities.

When clients approached us with technical problems, we worked with them to develop good-quality solutions and achieve the required outcome.
